Parish Councils have a variety of powers and duties, all of which impact directly on the community.

One of them is Planning.

Planning – Parish Councils must be notified of, and display for residents, any planning applications for the area. Any comments submitted to the planning authority by the Parish Council must be taken into account.
The Parish Council must consider all planning applications and provide their response to North Devon Council.

To improve the quality of the information available to the Parish Council when a response is made a Planning Sub-committee has been formed with the task of scrutinising all applications and reporting to the full Council at their next meeting.
